2nd FALL WORKSHOP
Complex processes: modelling, simulation and
optimisation
BĘDLEWO,
18-20 OCTOBER, 2002
Organised by:
ICM (Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational
Modelling), Warsaw University.
The support of Stefan Banach Centre of
Excellence is gratefully acknowledged.
Scientific chair:
Marek Niezgódka (ICM)
Hans Georg Bock (IWR)
Scope of the workshop:
The
1st Fall Workshop held in Warsaw in October 2001 formally
initiated activities of the joint graduate college on "Complex
processes: modelling, simulation and optimisation" launched by
IWR (Heidelberg University) and ICM.
The 2nd Fall Workshop is intended to update status
information on the projects conducted by college fellows and
provide new stimuli on most up-to-date challenges in
modelling of real-world complex systems. Our aim is to
bring together scientists from seemingly distant territories.
Thus the scientific scope of the meeting is rather broad as is
the research mission of both partner centres involved.
Its underlying rule is to foster bridging across scientific
disciplines, in particular to build links of mathematics
with the whole range of areas in science and technology.
Our discussions are going to pass across different scales
of modelling. The contributions will be divided into sessions on:
modelling within microscopic scale
modelling within macroscopic scale
modelling on mesoscale
modelling on macroscopic scale
optimisation
Programme:
There will be several invited lectures and contributed talks.
PhD students are highly encouraged to report on their running
doctoral projects.
